Reid Aide: Cyber Bill To Focus On ‘Life And Death’ InfrastructureThe top cybersecurity aide to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) this week emphasized that major cybersecurity legislation expected to be introduced soon in the Senate would be narrowly targeted at U.S. critical infrastructure whose failure would pose "life and death" consequences for the country, and would set up security baselines for critical infrastructure that should be sufficient to foil most cyber attacks. Speaking to a meeting of the Information Security and Privacy Advisory Board (ISPAB), Tommy Ross, senior intelligence and defense adviser to Sen. Reid, said the Senate bill would provide the federal government with "some ability" to improve cybersecurity within a "narrow slice" of the U.S. critical infrastructure community.
